Beats Solo 4 On-Ear Wireless Headphones My Honest Take

Beats Solo 4 On-Ear Wireless Headphones My Honest Take

When I first held the Beats Solo 4 On-Ear Wireless Headphones, I wasn’t sure whether it would really be worth the hype, however. Like that thing where you see a product online but it should look too good when you actually see it in person? Anyway, I tried them  and this is what I discovered.

First Impressions and Build Quality

My initial impression after opening the box is, “Well these feel solid.” The headband itself is not cheap and the ear cups are very nicely padded with the gentle soft cushion that does not pill or poke at your ears even after several hours of use. They pack away tidily, and that is ideal when throwing them into a bag without fear of damaging them.

Nor is it too heavy, being hefty enough to be premium, but not so heavy as to make your head feel like it is wearing a helmet.

Setup and Connectivity

The matching was actually very easy. I simply connected them and my phone automatically connected to them through Bluetooth. None of those extra apps or significant setup process  which I actually like since I hate techie stuff that required an entire manual before it is usable.

They are also compatible with iPhone and android. I tried them on my iPhone and then on a friends Samsung. Connection was both fast and consistent, with no instance of unpredictable breakage both times.

Sound Quality in Daily Use

The thing is  I am no sound engineer but I know when music is flat. The beats solo 4 on-8 musical earphones, are certainly not flat. Thump in the bass is there, but it is not overwhelming to the point where your ears make you think you are in a night club at 8 am.

Its listening to the acoustics tracks was warm and detailed and even when I switched to hip-hop I still maintained the clean beats. I even went as far as to watch Netflix with them and the dialogue did not sound muffled and that is a big win.

Noise Isolation – Not Perfect but Good Enough

They are not in ear noise-cancelling headphones, but the padding blocks much of the noises you encounter in your daily life. When I was at a coffee shop, I could still hear some forms of background chatter but once music came in it faded. A bus was quieter so that I did not need turning up the volume extensively.

Comfort During Long Listening Sessions

I used them up to approximately three hours in a working condition, and I did not sense that my ears were dying of suffocation. Clamping force is perfect  firm enough to hold with some slight tilt of the head but not with a grip that you want to tear them off after 20 minutes.

And, good news, that buying glasses comes with the benefit that the ear pads are soft enough to not push your frames into your head.

Battery Life and Charging

What I like most? The battery life. I fully charged and used them twice at a time over 2 hours a day till Friday and had about half a charge left. Beats purports 40 hours of playback and I can say with a stern boy scout itch I played it fairly extensively.

It charges via USB-C (yay, no more old micro-USB) and a fast ten-minute top-up will provide you with a couple of hours in case you are short of time.

Controls and Ease of Use

No mind boggling swipe controls. It has a basic play/pause large button and volume controls as well as skipping tracks. The simple design is an easy fix if youve ever felt like with touch controls you can almost stop your song every time you scratch your head.

Who They’re Best For

The Beats Solo 4 On-Ear Wireless Headphones are a good pick, especially, in case you desire something stylish, light and easy to carry without needing to spoil it. They are excellent to use when commuting or working in their home or even just leisure. Sound quality is top notch, but these are not the models of choice to find ultra-precise sound; there exist other models to choose  but casual armature until semi-serious listening is achieved with these.

Real-Life Situations Where They Shine

I was using them when cooking so I did not worry about the cables falling into the soup. They remained fixed during a walk when I was going fast. And when someone called, I simply tapped the side and without touching my phone I was in a conversation.

Price vs Value

They are not the least expensive set of headphones out there, but in this case you are getting a blend of the design, comfortable piece of headgear and a detriment performance tool as well. And unless it is specifically background music, you should not get these at 20 dollars a pair. However, when you consider something that sounds neat, good-looking and performs well over time then they can serve as a good investment.

Conclusion

The Beats Solo 4 On-Ear Wireless Headphones have a style, feel and balance that they feel easy to recommend. They are not over engineered, they are not bad to look at, and they simply work  something I cannot say about too much technology I have experimented with as of late.

FAQs

Yes, but they are Bluetooth so you could have a bit of a lag with competitive audio. They are okay as leisure games.
